Am 3. Juli 2025 verliehen FIMBA und Panathlon International den Fairplay-Preis im Rahmen der Eduardo-Preisverleihung während des offiziellen Abendessens der XVII. Maxibasket-Weltmeisterschaft, die 2025 im Tessin (Schweiz) stattfand.
Der Preis wurde von Herrn Stefano Giulieri, Vizepräsident von Panathlon International, Herrn Rubén Rodríguez Lamas, Mitglied des Schiedsgerichts von Panathlon International, und Herrn Jorge Minuto, Präsident des argentinischen Distrikts, zu Ehren der angolanischen Frauen-Nationalmannschaft, die ihr 40-jähriges Bestehen feierte, überreicht. Es war der erste Fairplay-Preis, den diese beiden Institutionen in Afrika verliehen haben.
Die Vertreter der 50 anwesenden Länder hörten aufmerksam der Rede des Vizepräsidenten von Panathlon International zu.
Die Vereinbarung zwischen Panathlon International und FIMBA über die Preisverleihung stiess auf grosses Interesse in verschiedenen Ländern und ermöglichte es, Anliegen und Wünsche aus allen fünf Kontinenten zu sammeln.
The European Fair Play Movement's annual congress, awards ceremony, and general assembly took place on May 18 and 19 at the International Olympic Academy in ancient-Olympia, Greece. Organized under the auspices of the European Olympic Committees and the International Commission for Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSPSE), these events brought together 27 representatives from European Olympic Committees, European Olympic Academies, National Fair Play Committees, and European and international sports organizations.
On May 19, World Fair Play Day, the EFPM held its annual general assembly. This provided the opportunity to hold elections for all positions on the Board of Directors. The election of the new Executive Committee saw the re-election of the outgoing president for a further four-year term.
The Belgian Olympic athlete, founder of Panathlon Wallonia-Brussels, Philippe Housiaux, was re-elected for a further four-year term. declared: "Responsibility and pride; it is by a very large majority that the 29 countries and European institutions re-elected me as President of the European Fair Play Movement; my re-election in Olympia adds an additional dimension to the commitment I have had for so many years; I also appreciate the opportunity given to me to be able to give a positive impulse to the whole of Europe; the Panathlon Wallonia-Brussels school trained me for this; this appointment comes on May 19, World Fair Play Day; a project initiated in French-speaking Belgium in 2013; pride and responsibility."

Saturday 24th May has taken place, online on Zoom platform, the Extraordinary General Assembly of Panathlon International, convened for the approval of the budgets for the biennium 2025/2026.
106 Clubs have registered to participate, together with numerous Panathletes connected to follow the works.
During the assembly, the International President Giorgio Chinellato illustrated some relevant aspects of the current activity and the future perspectives, giving a clear and articulate vision of Panathlon action at international level.
At the end of the works, it has been proceeded to the vote of the budgets which, with the following result: 39 votes in favour, 37 against and 6 abstained, have been approved.
A result that rewards the programme presented by the Board, even if it raises several questions about a reduced participation in the vote on which some reflection will be necessary.
On May 14th, 2025, Panathlon International’s Culture, Research and Education Commission (PI-CREC) successfully hosted the second edition of its Webinar Series, focusing on the increasingly critical issue of match-fixing and betting integrity in sport.
The session, titled “Match-fixing and betting integrity: The challenge of the 21st century”, was coordinated by the PI-CREC Member, Fábio Figueiras (Portugal) and brought together experts and members of the Panathlon community for an evening of education, debate, and awareness-raising.
The event opened at 21:00 (CET) with greetings from Fábio Figueiras, who then gave the floor to Giorgio Chinellato, President of Panathlon International. In his welcome message, President Chinellato emphasized the importance of tackling corruption in sport and upholding Panathlon’s values of fair play and ethics.
At 21:10, João Paulo Almeida delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation covering the main concepts, challenges, and emerging trends in match-fixing. This set the stage for the interactive panel discussion that followed.
Beginning at 21:30, panelists Nuno Perestrelo, João Paulo Almeida, and Fábio Figueiras explored key topics such as:
• Role of education and Panathlon Clubs contribution to this
• Responsibilities of sports federations and the media
• Key risks, including illegal betting and inside Information
At 21:50, the discussion was opened to questions from the audience.
The webinar concluded at 22:05 with a summary and final remarks by Fábio Figueiras, who underscored the need for continued dialogue, international cooperation, and proactive solutions to safeguard the integrity of sport.
To ensure accessibility and inclusivity, the session was conducted in Portuguese, with automatic subtitle translation into multiple languages available through Zoom.

Panathlon International, through the President of the Commission for Culture, Research and Education, Antonio Carlos Bramante, has participated (online) in the Event related to the generation of knowledge, innovation and cooperation called "Collab Summit", which was held in the city of Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday 29 April.
In addition to the "II Symposium on Innovation, Technology and International Cooperation", a round table was held to launch the "I Symposium on University Studies in Sport Sciences" in which Prof. Bramante participated by presenting Panathlon International as an organisation committed to ethics and fair play.
The event was also attended by Professor Wagner Gomes, newly elected President of the Panathlon Club of Rio de Janeiro.
A collaborative work on "Environmental intelligence: environment and sustainability in sport and physical activities / 1961-2025" has been presented at the event and will be launched at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in Belém (PA) / Brazil, in November 2025.

Ein Mann, der bis zuletzt sein ganzes Leben den Schwächsten und Unterdrückten gewidmet hat, mit einem besonderen Augenmerk auf Kinder und junge Menschen.
In diesen Tagen werden wir viele Erinnerungen an seine Reisen lesen, die immer auf die politischen Fragen der Welt ausgerichtet waren, und an seine Botschaften, die er als wahrer geistlicher Führer für die Welt verkündete.
Er hat es verstanden, die Geschichte seiner und unserer Zeit zu prägen.
Alle Panathleten, die in den südamerikanischen Ländern stark vertreten sind, fühlen sich geehrt und sind stolz darauf, dass sie in seinen Reden und Projekten häufig dieselben Prinzipien wiedergefunden haben, denen die Arbeit und das Handeln von Panathlon International seit jeher gewidmet sind.
All dies wird ein Ansporn und ein Ansporn sein, die vielen Initiativen zugunsten der jungen Menschen fortzusetzen, um ihr Wachstum nicht nur sportlich, sondern auch kulturell zu unterstützen, ohne dabei die Verpflichtung zu vergessen, den Respekt vor den Regeln, das Fair Play, zu lehren, wie auch zum Beispiel den Kampf für die Reinigung und den Schutz der Gewässer und nicht nur der Meere.
Nicht zu vergessen ist die Ehre, die uns mit der Einladung zur Teilnahme am Sportlerjubiläum im Juni zuteil geworden ist.

Panathlon International ist erfreut, den Abschluss des Fotografiewettbewerbs Photo Contest 2025 anzukündigen, der sich mit dem Thema “Wie ich mit zwanzig Sport erlebe“ auseinandergesetzt hat. Der Initiative für junge Fotografen von 18 bis 35 Jahren hat erfolgreich eine grosse Zahl an Teilnehmern zugestimmt, die einen echten, leidenschaftlichen Blick auf den von der Z-Generation erlebten Sport geworfen haben.
Der Wettbewerb stellt einen Bestandteil des Circuito OFF der XX. Fotografia Europea dar, des prestigeträchtigen internationalen Festivals, das in Reggio Emilia vom 24. April bis zum 8. Juni stattfindet. Das diesjährige Thema “Wie ich mit zwanzig Sport erlebe” erkundet die Hoffnungen, Herausforderungen und Widersprüchlichkeiten des jugendlichen Alters durch das Objektiv aufstrebender und bereits bekannter Fotografen.
Zwei unverzichtbare Termine: Ausstellung und Siegerehrung
Der Photo Contest 2025 besteht aus zwei getrennten Momenten:
• Einweihung der Ausstellung: Am Montag, den 29. April um 12:00 Uhr im grossen Saal der Universität UNIMORE im Viale Antonio Allegri 9, Reggio Emilia. Die Ausstellung der Fotos der Finalisten ist bis zum 6. Juni zugänglich.
• Verleihungsfeier der Preise: Am Samstag, den 3. Mai um 20:30 Uhr auf dem Platz Dal Popol Joust, Reggio Emilia. Während des Abends werden die Sieger des Wettbewerbs verkündet und prämiert.
Das Event stellt eine einzigartige Gelegenheit dar, um die Kreativität und das Engagement der jungen Fotografen bei ihrem Versuch zu feiern, Sport als Lebenserfahrung und persönliche Entwicklung zu erzählen.
The event programme and athlete quotas for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) have been approved by the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). With a total of 351 medal events, 22 more than at Paris 2024 (329), the LA28 programme maintains the core athlete quota of 10,500, with an extra 698 quota places allocated for the five sports proposed by the LA28 Organising Committee (baseball/softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse and squash).
